Before we jump into the list, we wanted to speak to anyone who might be on the fence about whether or not to do a daytime date or keep things after dark. Here are some of the big benefits of daytime dates.

- Many places you might go are considerably less busy during the day.
- You don’t have to worry about missing out on any sleep or staying out too late.
- There are a lot more unique ideas that aren’t as feasible at night!
1. Have an active day playing at the park.
One of the biggest venues opened up to you with a daytime date is parks! Grab a frisbee, football, kite, or even some supplies for a picnic and enjoy the sunlight (unless it’s raining).
2. Go to the zoo together.
Most zoos are only open during regular business hours or at best, early evening too. When you go on a date during the day, you open up this incredibly fun option for a great date. Enjoy seeing some cute animals together.
3. Do a daytime, self-guided city mural art tour.
If you live close to a big or medium-sized city, you probably have some really neat art on the street throughout the city. Do a little research beforehand to find out where it is, and do your own tour experiencing it together!
4. Go fruit picking at a nearby local farm.
Depending on the season, a great daytime date idea is to go pick fruit at a local farm in your area. You can take the fruit and go make something with it (pie, smoothie, etc.), or just enjoy it together at the farm.
5. Watch a midday matinee movie.
Just like date nights don’t have to just be at night, watching a movie at the theater doesn’t either. This is a great date option for midmorning or early afternoon. And the best part? You generally get a matinee discount.
6. Go for a bike ride.
A simple but really fun day date idea is going for a bike ride. You can do this as a form of exercise, a form of adventure (on a trail), or just as a casual tour around town. It’s totally up to what mood you’re in.
7. Check out the science center in town.
If your town has a science center, planetarium, or even a unique museum, this is a fabulous way to spend a day with someone special. If you want to jazz it up, see if the museum has a café or coffee shop attached or close by.
8. Volunteer together for your daytime date.

Do some quick searching for opportunities in your area and have a day date that not only helps you connect, but gives back to the community too.
9. Watch planes take off and land.
While this date is a lot of fun at night, it’s also a blast during the day. Most major airports have a special parking area by the runways where you can park and watch the planes take off and land. Pack a little cooler with some snacks and go enjoy the spectacle of flight together, without having to go through TSA.
10. Go eat somewhere with a lunch special.
While grabbing a meal may not be the most unique idea, it’s still something that is great for couples looking for an opportunity to talk and enjoy some good food. The perk of lunch during the daytime is you typically get some great specials.
11. Do an early morning group fitness class (outdoors).
If you look, chances are high that somewhere in your city there is an outdoor fitness or yoga class on the weekends during the day. If you and your special someone like being active, this could be a really fun way to shake things up and enjoy some time together.
12. Check out a baseball game.
While most sports tend to be at night, baseball is one of the few that happens quite a bit during the day. If you have a team in your area, check out the upcoming game schedule. Remember, minor league games are just as fun as MLB games and everything is less expensive.
13. Have brunch or breakfast together.
While lunch is fun (one of our earlier daytime date ideas), brunch or breakfast is also an option. This can be paired with one of the other activities on the list for a more complete day, or you can do it as it’s own date if you’re just looking for an earlier start.
14. Head to a car show on the weekends.
If it’s the weekend, most towns (even small ones) have some sort of car show going on. It might be classic cars, exotics, trucks, or something in between. Typically, these take place in parking lots by coffee shops and are a lot of fun (and free). Do a quick search on social media and you’ll probably find plenty of events going on.
15. Go for a swim or snorkeling.
Depending on where you live, some form of aquatic activity can make for a great day date idea. This could be swimming in a pool, floating down a river, snorkeling in the ocean, or running around a local splash pad. This is a great one on warm days where you’re looking to cool off while heating up the spark.
16. Go bowling.
Some people don’t even realize that bowling alleys are open during the day. They’re usually way less crowded, have steep discounts, and are just as fun as nighttime. Feel free to use bowling as a great first date, something you do regularly, or something to mix things up.

Tips to Maximize Daytime Dates
- Don’t let it become awkwardly long. – One “perk” of nighttime dates is that they have a natural endpoint when it starts to get too late. With daytime dates, that isn’t there. This means you have to be conscious and proactive about ending the date when it’s time so that it doesn’t awkwardly drag on for too long (even if you’re enjoying your time together).
- Still be romantic! – Just because it’s not nighttime doesn’t mean you can’t still be flirty and romantic. Treat your daytime date the same as you would a nighttime date, just at a different time.
- Take advantage of the perks. – Make sure you take advantage of daytime discounts that are available at a lot of places. Dates can get expensive, so take every chance at savings you can get.
- Don’t be shy offering to have a date during the day. – If this sounds like a fun idea, suggest it! Most people always do nighttime dates because it’s just what they’re used to. Don’t let “the way it’s always been” be a barrier to a fun daytime date.
