There’s a really annoying trend in the world of couples apps where they say they’re free, but once you download the app, you realize you have to pay to do anything meaningful. You might have to buy a subscription, purchase add-ons, or pay to unlock the features that actually matter.
In our book, these are not real free apps for couples. But, thankfully, there are some apps out there designed for couples and married people that are truly free. You can be confident that you’ll be able to enjoy these apps fully without needing to pull out your wallet or purse.
There aren’t many of them (hence, our list being only three), but they do exist.

It’s probably not surprising that we’re confident LoveTrack is the best free app for couples out there by miles. LoveTrack’s features include an interactive date night planner (with over 500+ unique preplanned date night ideas), daily couples questions, couples question packs, anniversary and birthday reminders, romance tips, and so much more.
It’s literally everything that the paid couples apps charge you for, but for free. And what’s neat is new features are coming out literally all the time, so it’s always changing and growing (and staying free)!

How to Tell a Free Couples App vs. The Pretenders
Before we jump into the rest of the list, we did want to share a few tips to spot the real free apps for couples and the ones that could be a little more clear that they required money to get the full effect. While we’re not saying that anyone is being deceitful, we have seen a lot of reviews from people who are upset that you basically have to pay to do anything meaningful after being billed a free couples app.
Be careful of free trials.

Happy Couple is free for an information/advice option.
A second option for free couples apps is one called Happy Couple. Like LoveTrack, it’s free with no ads, so that certainly earns it a spot on our list. Reviews for this app are pretty good on Android, but not a lot of traffic it seems on Apple. What we liked about this app is that it focuses on relationship education, which can be nice for people looking for information. Arguably, you probably can find a lot of this online already without needing an app, but there’s no cost to it, so no harm no foul.
One interesting complaint we saw was that the Happy Couple app has a lot of information about parenting (which you can see in the screenshot above). If you aren’t a parent or you are but you’re trying to focus on your romantic relationship, it might be offputting.
Overall, though, this one is certainly worth checking out in the free app for couples category.
Gottman Card Decks has questions but the interface needs love.
One of the more well-known names in relationship advice is the Gottman Institute. With this free couples app, you’re getting about 1,000 “flashcards” that are basically questions to ask each other. There aren’t a ton of bells and whistles with this app (it’s mainly just a list of couples questions put on cards), and the interface isn’t too much to get excited about, but it’s from a pretty renowned name in the industry (and it’s free), so it certainly earns its spot on the list.
Requests we’ve seen in reviews are for the ability to shuffle the cards and mark which ones you’ve done, and not surprisingly, a request for some love to the user interface. Again, though, all of these couples apps are free, so compare that with the value.
Is it worth paying for a couples app?
Obviously if you’re here, your relationship is something of importance to you. Based on that logic, investing a little money into a couples app is certainly not a bad thing. However, we’d argue that with great apps like these (especially LoveTrack), you’re getting a lot of what you would normally be paying for at zero dollars.

But when it comes to date night ideas or couples questions, LoveTrack gives you the premium quality of a paid experience for $0.
- Read the fine print if you veer off this list. We don’t think that most couples apps that aren’t free are trying to pull a fast one on you. However, there are a few out there that like to be a little trickier with how they acquire customers and
