Future Husband Day is an annual holiday that gives dating and engaged couples the opportunity to celebrate the man who will one day be their husband. Now, before you run off to start planning the big day, there are a few important things you need to know about the holiday.
Here are five things you have to know about Future Husband Day.

1. Future Husband Day takes place on the third Saturday in April.
The holiday is celebrated annually on the third Saturday in April, which is the same day as Husband Appreciation Day. Here’s when that is for the next few years.
- 2026: Saturday, April 18
- 2027: Saturday, April 17
- 2028: Saturday, April 15
- 2029: Saturday, April 21
- 2030: Saturday, April 20
- 2031: Saturday, April 19
- 2032: Saturday, April 17
- 2033: Saturday, April 16
- 2034: Saturday, April 15
- 2035: Saturday, April 21
2. You can get free reminders so you never miss National Future Husband Day.
With all the different romantic couples holidays going on, you practically need a full-time assistant to manage your love calendar. Thankfully, that exists and it’s free! The free LoveTrack App for couples automatically sends you push notifications when romantic holidays (like this one), your anniversary, and your partner’s birthday are coming up.
It even gives you unique ideas of ways to celebrate along with other great features like unique date ideas, daily couples questions, and a relationship counter. And the best part is that it doesn’t cost you anything to use.
3. Technically, Future Husband Day isn’t an official holiday.
You may hear some haters saying that Future Husband Day isn’t a “real” holiday. Technically, they’re sort of right. However, they’re also missing a huge piece of the puzzle.
Let’s look at the facts. No, Future Husband Day isn’t a Federally recognized holiday or a widely popularized holiday with deep historical roots. But, neither are most couples holidays. In reality, nearly every major couples holiday isn’t “recognized” or “official” in the same capacity as some other holidays might be.
Does this mean it’s not real? Absolutely not. Future Husband Day is growing in popularity and much like the other “real” couples holidays (that aren’t official either), what gives them their standing is acceptance by society.
So, here’s the big takeaway. Future Husband Day is just as “real” of a holiday as every other couples holiday. Additionally, anyone who hates on you for wanting to celebrate the important guy in your life is just a negative person who needs to figure out their life and stay out of your relationship.
We’ll get off our soapbox now.
4. Not everyone in a relationship should celebrate this holiday.
Just because you’re in a relationship doesn’t mean this holiday is a slam-dunk, must-celebrate like Valentine’s Day is. Here’s what we mean.
This is not “National Celebrate the Person You May Be With for a Long Time Day.” This is a celebration of someone that you are going to marry. By celebrating this holiday, you are basically making a proclamation that you’re going to be marrying this person.
If this is something you haven’t discussed yet, you run the risk of scaring your partner by being too presumptuous. Sure, you may know in your heart that he’s the one. But if you haven’t openly and concretely discussed (and agreed) that you’d be spending the rest of your lives together, there may be more risk than reward celebrating.
- If you’re engaged, go for it.
- If you’re married, celebrate National Husband Day instead (it’s the same day).
- If you’re in a relationship and have already agreed you’ll be getting engaged some day soon, you can probably celebrate this holiday.
- If you’re in a relationship and you haven’t discussed and agree that you’re getting engaged and married one day, skip the holiday.
Some relationships in the last category could get away with celebrating this in a playful fashion, but again, risk vs. reward makes it a no-go in most of these situations.
5. Have fun!
Now that we’ve gotten all the paperwork and fine print out of the way, it’s time to close with the most important thing of all. Have fun with National Future Husband Day! Celebrate the man that you’ll be saying ‘I do’ too.
Unlike some holidays where the expectations are to go all out (we’re looking at you Valentine’s Day), this holiday is up to you how much you want to celebrate. You can go as simple as just wishing them a happy Future Husband Day and/or writing them a little note, to as much as planning a whole day of celebration out of it.
It’s up to you, and both are acceptable. Just make sure you’re having fun together and celebrating the important man in your life.
