And with that said, here are the steps to write love letters for her, the easy way.

1. Start by understanding what makes a love letter to her actually great.

There’s a lot of misinformation out there about what makes a love letter a good one. Often, people think if it doesn’t sound like, well, Shakespeare or a Taylor Swift song, then it’s no good.

Here’s what actually makes a love letter for her great.

  • It’s personal. – No cookie cutter, copy and paste, nothing like that. It includes elements that are personal and unique to your relationship.
  • It’s honest. – You aren’t trying to paint a picture that isn’t a reality. You’re honest, and you speak from the heart.
  • It’s you. – This may sound silly, but the best way to describe a love letter for her that is going to land well is one that is ‘you’. It feels like you, sounds like you, and is a part of you!

Notice we didn’t mention Shakespeare, elegant poetry, or big grandiose words. If you can think less of a spectacle, and more of a connection, you’ll do great.

2. Follow the general framework of a great love letter.

Okay, so you can actually write whatever you want in your love letter to her. However, if you want to simplify it a little (without losing any of the effect), there is a simple framework that you can follow.

Here’s what that looks like.

Salutation/Greeting

This is where you say “Hi baby” or “To my love” or something like that. Feel free to use any cute nicknames you have.

Don’t use this as the time to introduce a new nickname, though. That would just feel odd.

Tell them why you’re writing.

This is where you start to set the stage of why you’re writing. It also helps to alleviate any possible fears that the letter may be a bad thing.

This can be something like:

  • “I wanted to take a minute and write to you and let you know how special you are to me.”
  • “I wanted to write you a little note to share how awesome I think you are.”
  • “I’m writing you today because I wanted to make sure you know how much I care about you.”

Any variation of something like this is great.

Fill in the ‘meat and potatoes’

Next, you start to tell them how you feel. This is where you tell them what you love about them, why they’re special to you, etc. This is where you want to spend the most time, and where you want to make things the most personal.

To help, here are a bunch of questions you can ask yourself and answer.

  • How does she make you feel?
  • How does she make you feel when you see her smile?
  • What’s a moment with her you’ll never forget?
  • What’s the very first thing that attracted you to her?
  • What do you admire most about her personality?
  • What’s something she does that makes you feel truly loved?
  • How has your life changed since she came into it?
  • What’s the most beautiful thing about her (inside or out)?
  • What’s a quality she has that you wish more people had?
  • When was the last time she made you laugh uncontrollably?
  • What’s a dream of hers that inspires you?
  • What do you miss most when you’re apart from her?
  • What little quirks of hers do you secretly adore?
  • What’s a way she supports you that you’re thankful for?
  • What does a perfect day with her look like to you?
  • What song, place, or memory reminds you of her the most?
  • What do you hope for the two of you in the future?
  • What’s something you’ve never told her but always wanted to?
  • How has she made you a better person?
  • What are the top three things you love most about her?
  • What’s something about her you notice that others might not?
  • What’s a habit of hers that makes your heart melt?
  • What was the happiest moment you’ve shared together so far?
  • How does she show her love in ways that mean the most to you?
  • What do you feel when you imagine growing old together?

In your actual love letter, combine the question with the answer. Rinse and repeat this for several questions, and you’ll have a phenomenal section.

For example, if you use the first question, “How does she make you feel?” Maybe your answer is, “She makes me feel safe and like I belong.”

In your letter you’d write, “You make me feel safe and like I belong.”

Close it out strong

Lastly, you should close out your love letters to her with a thank you. Thank her for being special. Thank her for all the things you just said to her.

  • “Thank you for being an amazing girlfriend/wife.”
  • “Thank you for everything you do for me.”

Anything like this will do great!

3. Put it all together.

Once you’ve done this, it’s time to put all these sections together. Here’s an example love letter to her based on the examples we used above.

“Hey baby,

I wanted to take a minute and write to you and let you know how special you are to me. You make me feel safe and like I belong. Thank you for being an amazing girlfriend.

Love,

Your name”

See how well that came together? All you have to do each time you want to write a love letter to her is go through some of the questions and add them to the middle. You can do as many or as few as you’d like.
