1. The Classic Sunrise Watching Date
If you’re looking for a romantic morning date that checks all the boxes, you can’t go wrong with the classic sunrise watching date. What’s great about this date is it’s fun, it’s beautiful, and it takes minimal planning. All you have to do is find somewhere nice that you can watch the sunset (facing east), make sure it’s going to be open and accessible in the morning. That’s it!
Now, a few thoughts on this one to remember.
- It’s probably going to be dark when you get there, so bring a flashlight or safety equipment to make sure you’re good moving in the dark. You may also want to scout the location beforehand.
- This does require you to get up pretty early, so make sure your date is okay with that.
2. A Morning Picnic (with or without the sunrise)
A really great morning date idea that you can do with or without the sunrise is a picnic! You can put together a traditional breakfast spread, or make it more of a brunch style feel. What’s nice about this idea is that you can do it with sunrise if you want, or if you feel like sleeping in, you can make it a little later in the morning.
3. Brunch! (go out or plan an epic one at home)
What’s better than breakfast and makes for a perfect date? Brunch! It’s the mix between breakfast and lunch and is perfect for people who want to sleep in a little and add a little more excitement to their date than a typical breakfast.
With this date, you have two options. One, you can go out somewhere for brunch. This will give you a more “exciting” environment if you want to be around a high-energy environment with a lot of people.
Your second option is to set up your own brunch at home! You can get a playlist put together, make some delicious food, and have a blast together (or as part of a group date).
If you want some creative ideas for this one, there are some great tips in the LoveTrack app that we shared.
4. Walk Around Somewhere Closed
Going for a walk together may sound simple…because it is! That said, it makes for a great time to connect, talk, and enjoy yourselves. When you get up in the morning, there are a lot of places that aren’t open yet that are a blast to walk around. Think places like malls, amusement areas, piers, etc. It can be fun to explore these places while they’re closed without all the normal hustle and bustle.
The one think you will want to make sure is that even though the stores are closed, ensure that the outdoor area (outside of the stores or establishments) is open and safe to walk around. For example, a lot of malls might not have their stores open until 10 am, but the inside of the mall might open at 8 am.
5. Head to a Farmer’s Market (and get creative!)
Famer’s markets feel like they were made just for morning dates. If there is one going on in your area (typically on the weekends, but not always), you have a lot of options. First, you can just go walk around! Keep it simple, and enjoy where the day takes you.
If you want to jazz it up, there are some neat ideas in the free LoveTrack app worth checking out.
The Farmer’s Market Smoothie Date (where you get fresh ingredients and make smoothies together) and the Farmer’s Market Picnic Date (where you make a lunch from things you find) are both a blast!
6. Volunteer Somewhere Together
There are so many great volunteer opportunities that typically take place in the morning. Volunteering together is an incredible way to spend some time together for a morning or early afternoon date. Try your best to find something where you’ll be able to spend some time together with whatever the volunteering activity is.
7. Turn Garage Sales into a Morning Date Adventure
Garage sales create a lot of fun opportunities for morning date ideas that are inexpensive, memorable, and down-right fun. Here are some ideas:
- Just go exploring! You don’t have to make it any more complex than that.
- Set a budget and have a competition to see who can find the coolest thing. The budget can be something like $5 or $10 a person!
- Make it a quest to find something that you can use for a second date that night or on another day. For example, maybe you find some old board games that you can use for a boardgame date night. There are more ideas of things to be on the lookout for in the LoveTrack app to help spark your creativity!
8. Take Advantage of People Sleeping In
This morning date idea is going to be a bit specific to where you live, but the premise is the same everywhere. There are a lot of places that open early that are normally really busy later in the day. If you take advantage of the fact that you’re both up early, you can enjoy these places with minimal crowds for a wildly unique experience.
Think places like theme parks, attractions, museums, etc.
The one thing to be aware of when planning your morning date is to make sure everything you want to do is open early.
For example, some places might open early, but they might not have all of their attractions open until later in the day. Typically, you can find all this information on the venue’s website.
9. Breakfast (we had to include it)
Alright, so we said that all of these morning date ideas were better than breakfast (and we think they are), but a list of morning dates wouldn’t be complete without including the classic breakfast date.
If you want to jazz it up, you can make breakfast at home or go to a new restaurant you’ve never been before.
It’s simple, yes, but it still create intentional time together where you can connect.
Why Morning Date Ideas Can Be More Fun
In case you are on the fence between a morning date and a more traditional date night idea, we wanted to share a few of the reasons morning dates can be pretty awesome.
- You have the entire rest of the day if you want to extend the date or if you have other things you need to get done.
- People tend to flake less on morning dates because the day hasn’t had a chance to throw it’s wrenches at people yet.
- If you’re going to an establishment, most things are going to be way less busy (with the exception of brunch and breakfast places).
Things to Remember When Planning a Morning Date
With all that said, there are some unique considerations you need to take into account when planning a morning date idea. Here are things to remember:
- Make sure your date likes getting up early.
- Logistically, make sure you don’t have something super late the night before if you’re planning on getting up early.
- If you’re doing something with the sunrise, make sure you plan for the dark.
- Some places may only open partially in the morning (or not at all until later than you think). Check the hours and what all is open before making plans.
